CloserStill Media celebrates successful debut at London ExCeL for Technology for Marketing and eCommerce Expo
The UK’s biggest eCommerce and marketing technology events returned in-person, with a successful debut at London ExCeL, welcoming thousands of leading retailers and brands on day one.
London, 28 September 2022 – CloserStill today marked a successful return of in-person gatherings at eCommerce Expo and Technology for Marketing after moving the events to London ExCeL this year. Thousands of tech leaders, marketers, retailers and brands joined for the first of two days.
Day one was kicked off with a keynote by Carrefour’s E-Commerce IT Director, Jesús Alberto de los Bueis and Product Director at Empathy.co, Lara Menéndez. The pair demonstrated how giving shoppers control of their data and humanising technology through Search & Discovery solutions can build trust and improve customer experiences.
“We knew that eCommerce Expo was an event that cannot be missed for anyone working in eCommerce, technology, or retail. We have missed these on-site events that allow us to be more human. I feel like the eCommerce Expo is a great platform whereby you can share your company's core values and key messages,” said Lara Menéndez.
The cost-of-living crisis, supply chain constraints, tightening data privacy regulations and rising customer acquisition costs were key talking points amongst leading experts and visionaries.
“For retailers to thrive, I would say keep an eye on the digital trends. But most importantly, ensure you are always looking to retain your customers' trust. Retailers and brands now need to improve the experiences they give their shoppers with a privacy-first approach. Customer acquisition numbers are of no value - even if they are very high - if consumer trust is lost,” added Lara.
Strategies to overcome these challenges included creating an omnichannel strategy, building personal relationships with customers using CRM platforms, personalising customer journeys using first-party data, and investing in media and advertising in a time when third-party cookies will become obsolete.
Celebrating a successful first day, CloserStill Media Event Director, Graeme Howe said: “We’ve supersized eCommerce Expo and Technology for Marketing this year because the appetite for learning and networking is palpable, particularly as we return to in-person events after the pandemic.”
This year, the events offer more opportunities than ever before to hear from thought leaders, with more than 200 hours of inspiring sessions across 10 theatres, which eclipses any other event in the UK.
“There’s a real buzz in the air, as business leaders look to each other to find the best solutions and services that can help them achieve their 2022 goals, especially in an uncertain economic landscape,” Graeme added.
The most innovative and game-changing solutions were on display by more than 250 exhibitors, including Adobe, Amazon, Barclaycard, Clearpay, Genesys, Google Cloud, Okta, Shopify, Shopware, and more.
“The event is busy, friendly, and dynamic,” said Oriana Ascanio, Client Development Manager at Sitel Group.
“I come to this event to get out and see what excellence looks like in the industry. This is a really great event – I would come for both days if I had the time,” said Adam Russell, Chief Operating Officer at One Retail Group.
Day two of eCommerce Expo and Technology for Marketing promises to build on an extremely successful day one, with keynotes from TEDx Speaker, Karl Lillrud; star of Dragon’s Den, Sara Davies; Chief Product Officer of Wish, Tarun Jain; Author Gordon Glenister, and more.
Real-time updates will be available on the eCommerce Expo and Technology for Marketing LinkedIn channels.
