Meet Our Exhibitors: Insights from Mention Me's Amie Lane
)
We spoke with Amie Lane, Senior Manager, Partner and Field Marketing at referral marketing platform Mention Me on what she’s looking forward to seeing at this year’s eCommerce Expo and Technology for Marketing and advice for new people joining the industry.
What industry trends are you looking forward to seeing at this year’s eCommerce Expo and Technology for Marketing?
This year, I'm particularly excited to see how brands are leveraging personalisation and AI to enhance customer experiences. With consumers expecting more tailored interactions, the push towards hyper-personalised marketing strategies is more relevant than ever. The integration of referral marketing into broader customer engagement strategies is another trend that I believe will take centre stage, driving both loyalty and growth.
What are the biggest challenges facing eCommerce retailers heading into Q4 and peak season?
As we approach Q4, one of the biggest challenges for eCommerce retailers is navigating the ongoing economic uncertainty while still meeting consumer expectations. Supply chain disruptions, inflation, and fluctuating consumer spending habits are all significant hurdles. Additionally, standing out in a crowded market, especially during the peak season, requires innovative and agile marketing strategies. Balancing short-term sales goals with long-term customer retention is also crucial, as brands must ensure that their promotional efforts don’t ruin brand value or customer trust.
What is most exciting to you about the eCommerce and digital marketing industry right now?
The rapid evolution of technology in eCommerce and digital marketing is incredibly exciting. The ability to harness data-driven insights to create personalised customer journeys is transforming how brands connect with their audiences. Innovations in referral marketing, which empower satisfied customers to become brand advocates, are particularly compelling. It's thrilling to see how businesses are using these tools to not only drive acquisition but also foster genuine customer loyalty. The blend of creativity and technology in our industry is leading to more meaningful and impactful customer experiences.
Why is it important to bring the industry together at events like eCommerce Expo and Technology for Marketing?
Bringing the industry together at events like the eCommerce Expo and Technology for Marketing is crucial for fostering collaboration and innovation. These gatherings provide a unique opportunity to share knowledge, explore new technologies, and discuss the challenges we all face. It's also a chance to build relationships that can lead to future partnerships and growth opportunities. In a rapidly evolving industry, staying connected with peers and thought leaders is essential for staying ahead of the curve and driving the industry forward.
What’s the best piece of advice you would give to new people joining the industry?
For anyone new to the industry, my advice would be to stay curious and open to learning. The eCommerce and digital marketing landscape is constantly changing, and success often comes from being adaptable and eager to explore new ideas. Don't be afraid to experiment, as innovation often arises from testing and iterating. Building a strong network is also key—connecting with mentors and peers can provide invaluable insights and support as you navigate your career. Most importantly, focus on understanding your customers; their needs and behaviours should guide every decision you make.
